Mission
In October 2006 our congregation completed a ReVisioning Process and adopted new statements of our Vision and Mission as a church. Our Vision is : “Being the Body of Christ in the World.” This reflects our intention not just to believe the right way, but to live according to the example of Christ. When people look at First Presbyterian Church it is our prayer that they will see Jesus Christ.
It is our daily mission that First Presbyterian Church will be:
“Connecting our Community to the Love and Grace of Jesus Christ.”
We will accomplish this mission by:
- Supporting families and children as they discover the basics of the faith
- Equipping parents in the skills necessary to help their children grow
- Emphasizing the acceptance and grace of God, not fear, as the primary motivation for faith and the Christian life
- Strengthening adults as faith is nourished and matures Challenging individuals to love God with both heart and mind
- Encouraging each Christian to struggle with issues of faith and to ask tough questions.
- Accepting all people into the inclusive fellowship of the Body of Christ
- Helping individuals and families find their way into the church and training members to be more able to share their faith with others.
- Providing meaningful programs for seniors (age 55 and above) that encourages their continued growth and service to Christ.
The ReVisioning Model printed below outlines our Mission, Vision and the Initiatives First Presbyterian Church is taking in the years ahead.
